Human Impact- What is it?
Human impact is a form of deforestation, pollution, or just some form of footprint that people can leave. In some cases human impact is good, however in other situations human impact can be a terrible matter. These cases often include ecosystems, such as rain-forests, coral reefs, and anything else able to be considered an ecosystem. In this particular ecosystem, deforestation is occurring as is poaching. Rain-forests are home to many rare animals that people would love to get their hands on, as well with certain plants with medicinal uses, as well as illicit uses.
The main problem with human impact is that a large amount of the rain forests are disappearing because of human expansion for low quality farm land. The rain forests are rapidly shrinking due to his, and if we do not recognize their significance, they might not be around much longer.
The rain forests are vitally important because they contribute a huge amount of oxygen to the atmosphere, more so than any other ecosystem, despite being so tiny compared to the other ones. As a race, we are threatening our very oxygen supply, the most vital part of our existence. This is a risk we cannot afford to take. Rain forests sustain a vast abundance of life besides our own as well, and because of our horrible deforestation habits, we have put hundreds of animal species on the threatened list, and thousands of different kinds of plants. We have barely even began to study the array of life contained in these ecosystems, so we do not know the potential for medicine they possess or other properties which we would destroy as a race if we continue to deforest.
